We have extensive experience on the research, recording and analysis of industrial heritage throughout Ireland.
Industrial heritage is an area of Ireland’s heritage that was largely overlooked up until recently. However, it is now regarded as an important facet of the country’s history, and attention is being paid to protecting industrial sites.
Industrial heritage include lighthouses, mills, watermills, windmills, roads, bridges, railways, canals, harbours and service industries such as water, gas and electricity.
Carrig has worked closely with local authorities across the country in helping to develop methodologies for identifying and recording industrial heritage within their jurisdictions and the preparation of policies for the treatment and protections of surviving elements of industrial heritage. We have carried out surveys of industrial heritage for Dublin City Council, Galway County Council, Fingal County Council and South Dublin County Council.
