CARRIG AND CONSERVATION

Carrig follows the international charters of ICOMOS (International Council of Monuments of Sites), the technical advisory body to UNESCO on built and world heritage — the Venice and Burra Charters are the key documents for approach to best conservation practice but there are many other doctrinal texts that relate to many different conservation projects.

Our multi-disciplined team like to engage with the client and other design team members to influence, at an early stage the importance of certain elements of high heritage value — this approach can often make for better design outcomes and an easier path through planning.

Our team are all active members of the national committee of ICOMOS and the many national scientific committees, from Industrial Heritage, Vernacular architecture, Towns & Villages, Cultural Tourism, Landscapes and Energy Efficiency. Working across nations, our staff gain important experience on the international approach to conservation.

Additionally, the team are continuously striving to improve their knowledge base by attending many courses, conferences and seminars, keeping up to speed with innovation and technological advances when dealing with challenging buildings.

If you would like to discuss a project, please contact the office to speak to one of our conservation consultants.
